Kansas City's Downtown Convention District Undergoing $4.5 Billion Renaissance
Located in downtown Kansas City, MO, just 20 minutes from Kansas City International Airport, the Kansas City Convention and Entertainment Facilities dominates the city skyline with its brilliant art deco pylons. The exhibition hall is just one of the city's multifaceted structures dedicated to meetings and conventions, sports and entertainment.
The Kansas City Convention Facilities offers 388,800 square feet of column-free exhibit space on one floor, another 55,000 square feet of additional space on two levels, 45 meeting rooms, a 2,400-seat fine arts theater, and an arena that can seat over 10,700 people, all connected to major downtown hotels and underground parking by glass-enclosed skywalks and below-ground walkways. A unique Convention Center feature is the expansive Barney Allis Ballroom South Plaza, ideal for outdoor receptions, festivals and concerts.

The Kansas City Convention Center is now home to the one of the 10 largest convention center ballrooms in the nation.
The new 46,450-square-foot grand ballroom/multipurpose space officially opened Spring 2007. The ballroom was the center of a $135 million, 135,000-square-foot expansion of the convention center.

"The outlook of Kansas City's travel industry is great," said Rick Hughes, president of the Kansas City Convention & Visitors Association. "The region will attract more travelers with the opening of several major new attractions this year, including The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art's Bloch Building, the Power & Light District, Sprint Center, College Basketball Experience, Bass Pro Shops and the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art. These add to the diverse mix of unique discoveries that travelers find while visiting Kansas City, especially because of the metropolitan area's frontline staff providing outstanding service to our residents and visitors."
