Royals Raise Ticket Prices for 2008 Season
KANSAS CITY, (SLFP.com), October 28, 2007 - The Kansas City Royals have announced their entire 2008 regular season schedule, as well as their ticket pricing for the upcoming season.

The 162-game slate will begin on Monday, March 31 in Detroit, kicking off a six-game road trip that concludes with a three-game visit to Minnesota. As previously announced, the Royals will open the home half of the '08 campaign on Tuesday, April 8 against the New York Yankees, the first of a 3-game set.

The 2008 slate is once again highlighted by a six-game, home-and-home series against cross-state rival St. Louis, with the Royals traveling to Busch Stadium on June 16-18, then the Redbirds visiting Kauffman Stadium on June 27-29.

In addition, the Royals today announced ticket pricing for the 2008 season. The Royals will raise their average ticket price for single-game purchases to $23.76 per ticket, a 14.94% increase over the $20.67 figure in 2007 (excluding Premium games). Ticket prices for season-seat holders will increase to $16.62 per seat, a 14.93% rise over the $14.46 per season-seat charged in '07. Despite the increases, the new ticketing price structure still ranks 27th among the 30 Major League clubs, based on 2007 pricing. The average price per season ticket in Major League Baseball for 2007 was $22.69.

"The new pricing structure comes from an immense amount of research involving where our ticket prices rank compared to the market size and where we want to be as an organization both on and off the field in the coming years," said Kevin Uhlich, Royals Senior Vice President of Business Operations. "Obviously we want to keep our prices reasonable for our fans and I feel that despite the increase in ticket cost, Royals baseball is still one of the best bargains in professional sports.

"With the renovations that have begun and the new pricing structure, we are committed to providing a well-rounded, exciting experience once fans enter the gates at Kauffman Stadium," Uhlich continued. "This includes a reinvestment of the revenue from ticket sales into baseball operations with the intent to upgrade our efforts in the minor leagues, internationally and on the Major League level.

Royals Fans to Watch Highlights and Replays on World's Largest HD Display
KANSAS CITY, (SLFP.com), October 14, 2007 - The world's largest high definition (HD) light emitting diode (LED) video display will be installed at Kauffman Stadium prior to the start of the 2008 Major League Baseball season.

Daktronics HD-X LED technology will be installed in a huge outfield structure behind center field measuring more than 100 feet high by 85 feet wide, topped with the familiar Royals' iconic golden crown. The display will be the largest HD LED board in the world, surpassing the former record holders designed and manufactured by Daktronics for Dolphin Stadium in Miami and Darrell K Royal - Texas Memorial Stadium on the campus of the University of Texas in Austin.

In an announcement, Kevin Uhlich, Senior Vice President, Business Operations for the Kansas City Royals, said, "The Kansas City Royals organization is extremely excited about this high-tech addition to Kauffman Stadium. We'll be installing the very latest in Daktronics HD LED video technology to provide the best game day presentation for fans, in incredible detail that is larger than life. The sheer size of the main display will allow us to show live and recorded video in high definition, while at the same time provide much more statistical information, graphics, animation and other energizing content. Imagine replays, highlights and images that are 100 feet tall. It will be very impressive."

The 2008 season upgrade will also include Daktronics LED technology incorporated into the fence in left field, which will be used to display up-to-the-minute scores and information from other games in progress. The outfield fence display will measure approximately 8 feet high and 128 feet wide.

Additional equipment will be installed prior to the start of the 2009 season. Two LED displays will be positioned on the fascia of the upper deck seating along right field and left field. These ribbon boards will measure approximately 4 feet high by 380 feet long. Also included will be two additional LED displays positioned in the outfield above the new restaurant/bar and above the new Hall of Fame, each to measure approximately 5 feet high by 108 feet long. Fans near the Little "K" baseball field, and by the "Taste of KC" plaza area, will also be able to catch the action on Daktronics LED video displays.

The addition of the new HD video board and outfield fence display are two of many significant improvements that will take place over the next two years at the ballpark. The renovation of Kauffman Stadium, designed by HOK Sport, includes a grand open entrance into the ballpark; improved concourse areas with more food options and shops, which will double the size of the current concourse; enhanced outfield plaza areas; additional fan-friendly seating; and a new Royals Hall of Fame. The entire project will be completed by opening day 2010.
